At Cheshire Fitness Zone (CFZ) our goal is to help children and adolescents of all ages feel confident in growing their abilities through therapeutic programs that strengthen and teach new skills for use in everyday life.
Services include: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech Therapy (ST).
Our monthly, “Employee Spotlight Series,” offers a chance to meet members of the team and learn about their experience working with children.
Meet Hannah Wilson, SLP
Find out how in high school Hannah knew she wanted to be a speech pathologist and how herself being fun makes her job working with the kids that much easier.
“A typical day at Cheshire Fitness Zone is fun and fast moving and always keeps me on my toes.”
“I knew I wanted to work with kids ever since I was younger. I knew I wanted to specifically be a Speech Pathologist when I was in high school. So I feel very lucky that I knew what I wanted to do early on. My mom worked in a school and I used to help her out in summer school and just fell in love with the population of kids that I work with now.”
“My favorite part about my job is to hopefully impact positive change for the families and patients. I think one of the most important things that I can do for a family is try to ease some of the difficulties and try to think of creative ways to maximize communication in their everyday activities.”
“Three words that I would use to describe myself, as a speech therapist would probably be…number one: fun because I think it is the most important part is to play and have fun. Number two: flexible. Anybody in the career needs to be flexible and go with the changes. Every kid that we see, you need to constantly analyze and access and change your plan and the last one would be caring because you need to be caring to do this job!”
“Over the next ten years, there are a lot of different things that I would like to do. It seems like everyday I think of something new, which is the beauty about this field. There is an endless amount of possibilities but one of the goals I have always had is to go back to school to become a professor.”
